Peanut butter cookies - need a foolproof recipe please

For reasons too tedious to relate, I am forced to bake peanut butter cookies, which I've never done before (I quite fancy the idea, just never done them) and take them into work.
They have to be good, and I don't have enough time to try a dodgy recipe out and then discard it - can anyone point me in the direction of something tried and tested please?

Thank you mrs

This Jo Wheatley recipe looks good but I haven't tested it yet. All her recipes I have done worked well though.

Thanks, jenni that one looks bang on, and comes with lots of good reviews. None of the MN ones are reviewed, which makes me reluctant - I need something absolutely cast-iron guaranteed.

I will revert with feedback.

Hope they turn out well! I often do recipes from Good Food website because you can read the reviews and check it works properly!

I have one that is foolproof and is excellent every time. What type of cookie are you after? One that's soft and chewy, or flat and crisp?

VeryDullNameChange · 10/02/2013 10:47

I prefer soft and chewy Icing, which type is yours?

This is pretty much identical to ones my grandmother made, fork indentation and all. Very simple but very good! I make them every week Smile

I did the Jo Weatley ones in the end, and they were absolutely fine - on the "short" side, very buttery, very sweet not gooey as per my normal preference, but basically a nice straightforward foolproof bake. Work seemed to like them.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I may try some of the other ideas another time in my quest for the Perfect Platonic Ideal Peanut Butter Cookie.
