My children hate fish... but I've got some salmon. What shall I cook?

I keep on trying to cook them fish, because DH and I like it and I think it's good for the DC to eat it. Got some lovely salmon fillets that were reduced, so what shall I do with them?
Baking it or grilling it plain with lemon, they won't touch it.
Fish pie is usually met with revulsion.
I have had a bit of success with Salmon nuggets before
Any other bright ideas?

btw DC are 12, 10, 2 and they are fussy about everything Sad

Can you coat it in breadcrumbs and bake it? My dc will eat anything crumbed! Or stirfry with soy sauce and serve with noodles?

Fish cakes?
Anyway fish is white. Salmon is lovely pink colour and therefore cannot possibly be fish Wink

Mine will eat it if flaked and mixed with mashed potatoes and peas - you could make patties of the mixture and fry in egg wash/breadcrumbs for fish cakes if you wanted to go a step further?

Fish cakes? They always seem to go down well.
My children enjoy salmon baked in the oven with pesto sauce.
Or served with pasta in a cream sauce - cook the salmon, flake it and mix with 3 tbsp creme fraiche and some peas. Mix with cooked pasta and grate cheese over the top. This is also popular with my chidren.

Fishcakes.

Boil potatoes and mash down (don't make too sloppy!) poach fish, mix together add a tablespoon of ketchup, and some chopped spring onions if you have them. Flatten into balls. Dip into plain flour, then egg then breadcrumbs.

I then fry mine in a bit of sunflower oil.

For a dip mix together some mayo and sweet chilli sauce.

Kids love them (and won't eat salmon on its own)

I think this may have been an AK receipe once...

Thanks all - brilliant. I will definitely try these ideas.

I've got creme fraiche hanging around in the fridge, and some spring onions and sweet chilli sauce, so lots of options.

If they actually eat these things, I will be having champagne with my salmon Grin

Just read my receipe back, obviously you'll need to drain the milk from the poached fish away!

MajesticWhine · 05/02/2013 20:55

Did the crispy fingers with the sweet chilli mayo mix - they ate it Smile
Well actually the 2 yr old wouldnt touch it but 2 out of 3 isn't bad. Thanks.
