Right i'm making falafel and am wondering what sauce I can put over it, I have no tahini paste. What else do you think will go i'm serving it with home made pitta and salad? I have natural yoghurt and was wondering if a yoghurt and mint dip kinda thing will work?

Yogurt and mint is good. Some people like chilli sauce (the sweetish kind, I think). Salad dressing based on olive oil and lemon juice (rather than vinegar) goes well, too. My parents used to make something along the lines of:

1 third olive oil
1 third bland salad oil, eg sunflower
1 third lemon juice
1/2 tsp sugar
generous pinch salt
1/2 tsp mustard powder

and shake it all up in an empty jamjar. Can't say exactly how much oils and lemon juice, but the end result would be about half a jar.

A tomato one would be good too.
Finely minced tomatoes,onions,coriander/mint and cumin with some olive oil.

mmmmmm descisons, descisions. I think i'll go for the yoghurt one today as i've already faffed about making pitta bread because I couldn't be arsed to go out to the shop to buy any. The yoghurt seems the easiest option.
Cheers everyone Smile

Mmm - that sounds nice, Moondog. I think I know what my lot are getting for supper tonight!

Maybe even pulse it in a food processor or blitz it with a hand held blender PC.
