Whenever I've made flapjacks in the past I have used unsalted butter, however i have just read that salted butter helps bring out the flavour of the oats so now I am in two minds...

So MN jury - salted or unsalted? My flapjack fate is in your hands!

Salted :)

I always think that salted brings out a cretain frisson when baking sweet treats.

Either, if using unsalted I add a pinch.
Good with chopped up dried apricots or sultanas too.

^That was a mishmash of the 2 sentences I had in my head when I wrote the post. Should have just said "salted".

Salted, always.

Gives a salted caramel thing with the syrup.

Salted, always salted.

always salted. no place in life for unsalted butter. Its disgusting. But salted, cold Anchor butter is nirvana on a nice, fresh chunk of bread

Salted. Agree 100% with Chaos.

You were quite correct Chaos. 'Frisson' is exactly rightSmile

Unanimous! Just waiting for the DSs to fall asleep and then I'm going to make a batch. I feel almost desperate for them now I've got my mind set on making them.
