What can I do with a big thing of topside of beef?

Can I cut it up and put it in a stew? Or does it have to be roasted?

Yes you can cut it up and casserole it, slow cooker would be a good idea.

or you could slow roast it whole with wine herbs etc if you have a casserole big enough to fit it. low heat for as many hours as it takes; I did one a while ago for 12 hours I think.

You could stew it, but my favoured solution would be to rub the outside in mustard powder, black pepper and horseradish and roast very slowly.
