Oh and oliveoil, some of us don't have the money to buy lots of food from M&S. Thats why i'm making it as it will be cheaper.

I've got to say it now

Has this thing kicked off yet?

Hattie05 · 12/04/2006 15:58

You really don't make many friends do you SnowBoo!

oliveoil · 12/04/2006 15:58

save it, have no sympathy for rude people

am off home now to count my money as I am obv soooooo loaded

bundle · 12/04/2006 15:59

you don't need lots, just get a few fancy bits from teh supermarket (M&S is worth the extra sometimes) and then get cheaper stuff eg crisps, hummus, bagels, cheese & pickled onions and salad stuff elsewhere.

oliveoil · 12/04/2006 15:59

I found some receipes for you!

PAH!

bundle · 12/04/2006 15:59

yes olive the pound does go that bit further Up North Wink

PinkTulips · 12/04/2006 16:01

wow, had that message up to post for ages from when there were no replies but dd had a bit of a tantrum. just pressed post and look what i fell into!

why would you need to say please? huh?

suzywong · 12/04/2006 16:07

why would you need to get sarcastic after only 2.5 hours after the original post?

PinkTulips · 12/04/2006 16:09

think it was just an amusing way of bumping it up really, although i'm another sarcastic hormonal pregnant woman so who am i to say?

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 16:09

No, i have no friends in the world. At least you can't be let down then.

I would love to go to M&S but at the moment money is so tight i really can't afford it. So will have to make do with baking myself. If anything at least i can be proud when she arrives and sees the effort i've put in. She has had such a bad time i want it to be perfect for her.

if you have puff pastry i'd do cheesy ones as well as sausage rolls. also do a drink that "stretches" like Pimms or sangria to keep costs down. and make some ice lollies for the kids with fruit juice or smoothies

PinkTulips · 12/04/2006 16:13

like i said Snow, mini sausage rolls, mini quiches, sandwiches. all stuff that can be made up in advance too so your under less pressure.

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 16:16

Thankyou for the ideas. I will start on the rolls next week and freeze them. Be ok won't it?

PinkTulips · 12/04/2006 16:19

chill sweetie, it'll be fine Smile

anyway your mum will be so chuffed at her surprise party i doubt very much she'll be critiqueing your efforts!

Bozza · 12/04/2006 16:22

How many are you inviting?

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 16:25

Theres 30 at the last count. My bro and sis have invited ppl but can't help out as sis lives miles away, bro is just useless.

Will chill. Will be fine. And if not, at least i've done my best!

Get a joint of ham and a whole salmon which you can prepare in advance and eat cold, some different cheeses and bread. A few bowls of salad - pasta, rice, tomato and green. Some dips and crudites/breadsticks and general nibbles. Even if your siblings can't help as such they could bring flowers, decorations, plates, packets of nibbles, pickles and condiments, drink etc.

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 18:50

You haven't met the siblings. Couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. Hence why i've got to organise it. Otherwise poor mum won't have anything for her big birthday!

Salmon and ham. Good idea ta. Will start prepping myself once Easter out of the way.

Thanks for all the good ideas. Very much appreciated. Grin
