Never sure about the 'rules' of defrosting/refreezing!

Using defrosted mince to make a cottage pie but there appears to be loads of it - can I freeze it again once it's cooked or not?

yes. Once it is cooked again it is fine. I'd jsut cook the meat and assemble a pie when you want it at a later date. Defrosted mash is horrible.

The rule of thumb is if you have 'changed the state' of something it is OK to refreeze. In the case of mince, you have changed its state from raw to cooked so it is fine to refreeze.
