Bubble and squeak, will it fall apart when I cook it?

Hello, using up the left over Savoy Cabbage from Sunday roast I have made bubble and squeak potato and fried onion patties to cook tonight for dinner. Do i fry them? If so in what? Oil or butter? AND are they going to fall apart? Should I have coated the mixture in something to keep the cakes from falling apart? Thanks!

I usually chuck a whisked egg into the mix to help them stick together and toss in some flour before very shallow frying.

Oooooh, the whisked egg sounds good, it's to late for tonight's batch (I made them this morning) but they seemed to have formed up in the fridge anyway! Will give it a shot next time though, thanks for the tip! Grin
