DS has had a temp of 39-40 all weekend and bang in the midst of me preparing dinner got really bad ear-ache Sad so we had to rush him off to the Drs. Gas turned off, oven turned off, food wasted.

Salvaged ... batter for toad in the hole - now in the fridge. Is it usable tomorrow night? Also, onion gravy - presume this will be okay. And finally, I'd had chicken stock simmering for an hr by then so just turned it off and continued boiling it when I came back.

Can anyone tell me whether these things will be okay - I think so but would like someone else to agree with me! Smile

DS, by the way, is now on antibiotics for ear infection/swollen glands etc which will serve dual purpose of clearing up his conjunctivitis, temp's down a bit and he's in better form - poor soul!

Sorry about your DS, hope he's better soon.

I would use all of them.

Hulababy · 02/04/2006 21:10

I would save and use all 3.

Hope your DS's antibiotics kick in quickly and he is feeling better soon.

Yep - all of it will be fine. The batter may thicken a bit in the fridge but let it come back up to room temp before using it and it will be fine.

Gravy and chicken stock will be okay to use.

Hope DS is okay - the anti-bs should kick in quickly. Ear ache is so painful for them, poor little thing:(

Would third those recommendations. Use the chicken stock to make some good old fashioned chicken soup (as dh's grandmother always tells me "it's jewish penicliin don't you know" ).
