It does take some of the fun out of life, doesn't it?
All that hand-wringing over food miles and fair trade.
Reeeaaalllly boring.

Non-MRM, GMO-free, from organic free-range pigs?

and a nice iced easter gingerbread biscuit.

dinosaure · 31/03/2006 15:44

Go to McDonalds. It'll remind you of all the reasons why you got into this organic living business in the first place.

expatinscotland · 31/03/2006 15:45

Bake something! Our home is never w/o homemade goodies! The latest are cream-filled sponge cakes. I'm going to make chocolate brownies tonight.

Pruni · 31/03/2006 15:46

Expat top idea but I'd be the size of a house!!
I think this is all because we got a pack of sprouts in our veg box, I felt compelled to finish them, and they just ain't sittin' right. Wink

sucked in by the Mumsnet propaganda, I almost bought some quinoa yesterday from the supermarket until I noticed:

  1. it cost £3.89!
and
  1. it had a picture of a llama
so I suspect it wasn't sourced locally Shock
scampadoodle · 31/03/2006 16:59

I recycle, use washable nappies (for that read "am up to my elbows in p*ss once a week), worry about food miles & packaging, agonise I'm not feeding my children properly, trek to the farmers' market every week, feel guilty about putting the central heating on, or using water when I brush my teeth , & sometimes I just feel suffocated by the smug middle-classness of it all. I really wish I were the type of person who doesn't give a stuff - life must be so much easier for those people. Why can't I be a Daily Mail reader? To have that kind of moral certainty must be very comforting... Wink

motherinferior · 31/03/2006 17:16

I know, Scampadoodle, it sucks. Then I find myself agonising over clothes, and trying to source right-on T-shirts that will also flatter my norks.

I made chocolate crispy cakes for DD1's class today out of organic ingredients Blush

scampadoodle · 31/03/2006 17:19

I've managed to stave off the clothes guilt, mainly. Dear god, I can't cope with another neurosis...

(trudges off, hands wringing, in her [organic, natch] hair shirt]

motherinferior · 31/03/2006 17:28

I can give you a lovely list of fair traded and organic sites should the urge to wear Ethical Pants (as I do) overcome you.

monkeytrousers · 31/03/2006 18:43

It's much cheaper in Tesco's - but that's not very fair trade minded is it? Blush

harpsichordcarrier · 31/03/2006 18:45

Tescos Shock
MT go wash your mouth out tsktsk

FrannyandZooey · 31/03/2006 18:54

I am still searching for organic hula hoops. They always seem to be out of stock at my local shop.

harpsichordcarrier · 31/03/2006 18:59

maybe you could just write it on the packet in biro franny

FrannyandZooey · 31/03/2006 19:01

You're a top girl, HC

:o

DumbledoresGirl · 31/03/2006 19:04

Crikey, get a life girls!

I do recycle a fair bit (and try very hard not to drive my plastic bottles to the bottle bank unless I am driving on somewhere else!) but that is about it.

What difference do you really think you are making? Sounds like you will all have hernias and high blood pressure worrying about it all and will start costing the nation more in health care than you will save in anything else. Grin
