how hard is it to make macaroons?

We are having a 'wear pink and bake pink things' day at work in a couple of weeks to raise money for breast cancer research. I have coeliacs and don't want to make a cake... I was thinking of macaroons as they would be easy to make pink. I'm only an intermediate level baker; I can turn out a good cake pretty easily and I have made meringues before (some perfect, some just OK).

Do you think I would be able to handle it? Also if anyone has a good recipe, or any tips, they would be much appreciated!

Wow, thank you all very much for the suggestions. I will check out the pink whisk site and others. The template is a very good tip, thanks! The tip about the almonds and sugar is also good, I have a Bamix, which is pretty good at annhilating things - I use it to turn regular sugar into icing sugar!

I think I will give it a bash. Office buddies are not going to care if they're not perfect, and if they look like a total pigs ear, DH will eat 'em
