after being disappointed by Nigelissima, I like the look of JO's new one VERY much.

what are you going to cook first??

flicks through pages, ignoring low carb supposed diet

Is it really 15 minute stuff though? His 30 minute meals one would have taken me hours!!

But maybe the 15 minute one will take half the amount of hours Grin

I might have a look - I didn't know he had a new one out :)

Had an email about this from The Book People today but i can't really justify another cook book having just bought 2 last week.

Let me know how it goes though. I'd be amazed if any of them come close to 15 minutes unless it's a case of cook pasta, drain & add shop bought pesto!

Take a look at guardian online today... Had a chef challenge... Made it with 4 mins to spare.

I saw that ohme, but I'd be happy with under 30 minutes for a nice looking tea. Our dinners are so boring, I'd like to stretch myself a bit.

I had a flick through in WHS today, lots of pasta recipes and salad recipes, and in the intro he states an average cost of £3.40 ish per person per meal. I think that's very expensive personally.

No puds either from my quick look through, and tbh some of the best things in the 30 minute book were the puds - we do them regularly!

Here's the link to the guardian article, and that has a link to two of the meals in the book.

so Yesterday I tried the first recipe in the book, Dim Sum Chicken and it was OK.

I didn't actually make the steamed coconut buns as I was really rushing (making tea for boys whilst baby slept) so I served the chicken with fresh noodles instead.

The chicken was mixed with hoi sin sauce, then it was supposed to steam for 5 minutes. NO WAY was that going to work in a million years. There was too much chicken for the steamer so just the bottom layer was cooking, ever so slightly.

I transferred the chicken to a wok to stir fry, but then the sugar in the hoi sin was burning slightly...hmmm...

Having said all that, the kids liked it!

So, to sum up:

it took probably about 30 minutes, even without one part of the recipe and the method was flawed. Not a good start!
