Am I going to die if we eat this?

We have meatballs last night that were made from previously frozen mince. I went to bed and forgot that I'd left the casserole dish (without its lid on) on the cooker top. I put them back in the fridge this morning - can we eat them tonight or will I poison us all?

I'd still eat them, as long as they were heated properly.

Imnotaslimjim · 22/09/2012 17:26

Heat them through thoroughly and serve them. I've done worse and still eaten it!

mrsvilliers · 22/09/2012 18:39

Yes I'd still eat the.

mrsvilliers · 22/09/2012 18:39

Them, even!

Catsmamma · 22/09/2012 18:41

make sure they are piping hot, and I'd definitely eat them!

Mydogsleepsonthebed · 22/09/2012 18:42

I'd eat them. but like everyone else heat them really really well first.

pumpkinsweetie · 22/09/2012 18:46

Cook it for ages till its piping hot & you will be fineSmile

They'll be fine, she says blithely! People didn't use to have fridges. Heat them through really well.

Thanks All! Have added more passata and am boiling as we speak!

Sorry but no. That breaks every food hygiene rule in the book.

Open lid pans left out in a warm kitchen all night. No way. If that happened in a restaurant you would be shut down by inspectors.

frasersmummy · 22/09/2012 19:09

bacteria cant survive if you cook them properly..

Teapot13 · 22/09/2012 21:37

I do this sort of thing all the time -- this wouldn't even be an accident in my kitchen. (Agree you need to thoroughly reheat, and I'm assuming they were thoroughly cooked before.)

Japple · 22/09/2012 21:56

In our country,re-heating and eating bacterially-challenged food...is not an
"option".Toss the whole mess out.People die from food poisoning every day
all over the world.Jill.

You'll be fine - its pretty cold at night at the moment, so the kitchen wouldn't have been warm (am assuming you live in the UK, not Mauritius Grin)

Good news, OP! Grin
