Where can I get a calorie food chart from?

A friend of ours has told us a bout a Horizon programme about calorie halving on two days a week. It sounded like a good idea and it is working with our friend. He didn't half his calorie intake just reduced it two days a week and in two weeks lost ten pounds. But I have searched online for a free chart and looked on the NHS site but drew a blank there as well. I don't want to join anything, (which is what most sites want) and I don't want to pay for something I am sure I should be a ble to get for free!
Has anyone any ideas? I am fed up of looking now!

Is this the five-two diet? Don't know much about it but sounds like something I have heard enthusiastic mutterings about recentlySmile

I'm doing this always and have lost some weight already, but my waist has really slimmed down.

I'm doing the 5:2, so I fast for 2 days but some people do the Alternate Day Fasting (ADF).

There is an article about it here but like you, the thing that I really struggled with was finding out the calorific values of food. On the recommendation of a MNer I've joined Myfitnesspal. You log what you've eaten and it tells you the calories. You can also look up foods before you eat them, although I'm not so good at that one Blush.

You might find this thread helpful and if you are on twitter, lots of the 5:2ers follow Michael Mosley.

Thank you J! lots of information here. I sort of did the two days, half heartedly! Just cut out the chocolate and alcohol, well, I cut down on the amount of chocolate I had Blush
I will do better next time... (I promise myself)

For women it is supposed to be 300-400 cals but I've only ever managed it once. Mine usually ends up at about 600 but then I've always been a good eater. Don't know if I get all the health benefits mentioned but I would literally pass out if I didn't have the snacks.

If you want to add me on MFP I'm lazychu Smile.
