Urgent quiestion about the Texture of cookie dough

I have a set of star wars cookie cutters which have a spring loaded bit that you press down to stamp on Darth vader's face. I've followed a recipe for sugar cookies online but I'm
Not convinced the cups to ounces conversion has worked properly since the mixture is like a thick paste rather than like a dough. Is the printed face going to disappear unless I add more flour? It does roll out and print but the mixture is quite sticky.

Any thoughts?

Imo a dough needs to be quite thick to hold it's shape while cooking. Double check your quantities and add more flour only if necessary.

Also, have you put it in the fridge for an hour? That really helps, esp if butter in recipe

Hmm I'm not sure what has happened. It's an American recipe for cookie dough that you can roll out. The only way I have got it near to rollable texture is by adding a lot of flour and so I'm
Not sure what the taste will be like. Oh well the main thing is that you can see the print of the star wars characters and so I doubt the DSs will be bothered about what they taste likeGrin

Very important! We have a dora impression thing for toast that's big hit in a similar way.
Gingerbread is good for holding its shape, you could try that the next time?

Virgil, i've got a good recipe for cookies if you want it, never fails and you can add what you want to it.

Yes please nanny, this one had rave reviews online but the biscuits were bland and nothingy (although they did hold the imprint well) I just want something that tastes slightly better.

Well Vergil, this isnt a roll out type of dough.
100grms granulated sugar (for crunch)
100grms butter
Tblsp golden syrup
150grms s/r flour
180 oven for 12-15mins
beat butter and sugar til pale, add syrup and beat again, then add half the flour along with whatever you want in there, i.e choco chips etc, mix together, then add other half of flour, arrange in blobs(dont flatten) they spread abit and are nice and chewy.
