you know, cut the strawberries, sprinkle a bit of sugar, leave in fridge over night = strawberries in syrup.

have a couple of punnets of peaches that I cannot finish off tonight and that might not be edible tomorrow...

yes it will work with peaches if you slice them

Even more divine, my mum used to also add a sprinkling of sweet red vermouth (Martini or similar) to the sliced and sugared peaches, they tasted gorgeous :)
