Apart from the obvious, any suggestions? I usually do Jamie's beef stew but only had that last week so fancy something different.

stick it in chilli or bolognese. Make coq au vin

Puy lentils.

I was thinking of spag Bol but thought 3/4 bottle would be too much, usually just put a glass in?

What do you do with the lentils?

Use some in spag bol and freeze the rest in icecube trays for future cooking.

Roast some shallots, garlic and red peppers, courgettes and aubergines too if you like. Meanwhile, fry a finely diced onion with a couple of finely diced carrots. Add red wine, stock, puy lentilss and cook until done. Then stir your roasted vege in. Eat like a casserole, or like a warm salad topped with feta, or use as a lasagne filling.

Nigella's baked plums are lovely - but if you make them, cut down on the insane quantity of honey.

Freeze it for future cooking.

make a big batch of spag bol and freeze the extra sauce for another night (we save extra sauce to make lasagne at a later date)

Mix with a jar of cherry jam and reduce to make a cherry sauce to go with duck or pork.
