Any alcohol will help bring out the flavor of the tomatoes, although red would work better. I've never tried it, but can't imagine it would make it taste bad, just perhaps not as good as a red. :)

Quite a few recipes, can't remember which ones, use white instead of red. I often use half red and half white.

My DH always says it tastes nicer when I use red wine, but if white is open, i'll use that instead :-) Still tastes lovely x
