Can I thicken curry with cornflower and water?

Please? My tinned toms have made the curry too watery.

I'd cook it longer to reduce the liquid. When I use cornflour and water it just goes gloopy and never seems to cook out properly.

I would cook for longer and reduce otherwise as Fliss said, it will go gloopy.
