Any ideas for feeding 50 people at an evening disco party?

We're having a big party for my 40th, and I really don't want to be hassling about food for people later in the evening. Was thinking of just leaving out a load of 'nibbly bits - sausage rolls, sarnies, crudites, dips crisps etc, and then ordering a load of pizzas in for later. But would welcome other suggestions! Basically, we can't afford to get caterers in, but I can't (wont be in any fit state), to sort out hot food for people!

Best party I went to had a selection of curry from the local takeaway, on those little warmer things, and a pile of poppadoms (? Sp.). All party host had to do was wash up the cook pots in the morning and return them and the warmers to the takeaway.

Do you have a Costco nearby? They do trays of sandwiches, wraps, etc and loads of buffet stuff at good prices

CUrry idea sounds good, but don't want to be washing up next day (am planning on doing nothing but recovering next day!). I guess at least with pizza I can just cut it up and leave some napkins next to it. Will look into costco idea.

we went to a "do" where they simply put out lots of baguettes, cheese & pate & trimmings (grapes/cherry toms etc) plus dips/crisps and it was fab. And you just helped yourself so no sandwich making for the host either.

I'm doing this on Sunday for DHs 40th, I've bought a ton of spuds, going to do jacket pots with various fillings and that's it.

I can cook them at the village hall through the afternoon while I'm decorating hall - jobs a good 'un!! Grin

Can you get a burger van to park in the car park and bill you?

Sausage Sandwiches.
Oven a load of sausages earlier in day. Put out with a load of baguettes, sliced bread, rolls, plus ketchups, mustards, butter etc.
RE-heat sausages if you're not too pished at serving time.
Everyone troughs in and is very happy.
