So I have been given a 7 kilo rib of beef which was surplus to requirements of a kind friend. It was bought at Christmas and never used. Fortnum's finest natch
It was taken out of the deep freeze and put into an insulated freezer pack with ice packs, and has been in that state until about an hour ago.
I took off all its wrappings apart from the sealed plastic it came in, gave the pack a good wipe with a cloth, and then put it on a tray at the bottom of the fridge.
I know nothing about meat cookery really, I thought some of the blood smelled horrible but on closer sniffing its just that horrible beefy bloody smell you get on well hung superior joints of beef.
How long will it take to defrost?
Is it OK to eat after 6 months in the freezer?
Any advice?
