replacing cream in a banana ice cream recipe?

Hi, I followed a BBC recipe for quick banana ice cream. It was easy, bananas, cream, caster sugar and lemon juice. But it was a bit greasy/ heavy. Would milk work or something else?

Any other really easy ice cream recipes to make without an ice cream maker? Thanks!

Have you ever tried just blending frozen bananas? Very creamy, like ice cream, lurvely! Smile

No...that's definitely one to try. Thanks!

James Martin does it with buttermilk

another vote for blending frozen bananas - works best with over-ripe ones, break them up a bit and put them in a tupperware box in the freezer. I used a stick blender to blend them - at first they look like mashed bananas, keep going and they change colour and consistency to become genuine banana ice-cream! Tastes fab.

Coconut cream works really well, its in a little tin. I use a couple to my recipes mind it will give your ice cream a coconut flavour and it will be more solid but you can buy it in waitrose if you want to give it a go, I use it to make vegan ice cream
