I have two children a 4 year old daughter and a 1 year old son. Both have had about 6 weeks of illness between them - sickness bugs and chicken pox and now colds. My son was sick in the night after a coughing fit and is off his food again. In the bit in between being ill and well he would devour 3 weetabix for breakfast so he has obviously been trying to make up for not eating but his trousers are still falling down. Can anyone think of anything good wholesome food but quite high in calories? I do make everything at home for them but he doesn't really like creamy stuff like potato dauphinoise which was one of my ideas. I did think some buns might be quite good but then I want some ideas for meals.

Off the top of my head: Eggs for breakfast? Peanut butter on toast? Add butter or olive oil to pasta sauce? Roast meat with roast potatoes and veg, plus gravy?

Crackers and cheese for snack?

Put cream and dried fruit in his weetabix? Ditto porridge
