I'm making king prawn and squid tempura for dinner can I use the fillet as well?

I think it could work.

EdgarAllenPimms · 16/06/2012 18:23

sounds bloody marvellous

Glaikit · 16/06/2012 18:26

I prefer my haddock to undress before eating though Wink

Sounds lovely!

PurplePidjin · 16/06/2012 18:29

The elastic might get caught in your teeth Wink

Is that deepfried in light batter? Sounds great but kedgeree would be easier :)

PissyDust · 16/06/2012 18:41

Bloody iPad!

I do like to look nice for sitting down to eat but I do. Not expect the same from my food.

AND. Why does my iPad keep inserting random full stops mid sentence??

Tempted to batter and lightly fry the iPad.

I frequently threaten to add dp's ipod to my phone to make a crumble...

Taffeta · 16/06/2012 18:47

Yum. The smoked haddock that is. The iPad would be too crunchy. I'd lightly steam it with some soy as a side.

AppleCrumbleAndFish · 16/06/2012 18:48

I don't like haddock in gingham!
If you press the space bar twice on the iPad you get a full stop.

RustyBear · 16/06/2012 18:54

You can turn off the automatic full stop in Settings - General - Keyboard. You can also turn off Auto-Correct there if you find it annoying.

SardineQueen · 16/06/2012 18:55

You need some kind of spicy sauce to dip it in - horseradish type stuff.

I would be very interested to try it!

PissyDust · 16/06/2012 19:23

I have made a lemon and garlic mayo to go with it. Just need to persuade little legs up to bed and then the wok can go on.

Thanks for the iPad technical tips btw Smile

Will you let us know how it is?
Your sauce sounds nice! The lemon should cut through the oilyness - that's the potential issue I think...

PissyDust · 16/06/2012 22:30

It was horrible Sad

Mayo was nice although I added an extra albeit small garlic clove so it was very strong.
No work tomorroe, just fathers day so my stinky garlic breath doesn't matter Grin

I needed more oil, a bigger wok and I over cooked the squid!!

It was the first time I have tried it though so I'm going to try again with veg next time.

Oh and don't get me started on the mess it makes of the kitchen!!

SardineQueen · 16/06/2012 22:34

Oh NO!!

The first time you tried to do tempura? Wow that is brave that is advanced cooking!!!

So mayo was nice but needed garlic - squid chewy but nice (?) how were the king prawns? Was the haddock horrid???

PissyDust · 16/06/2012 22:40

It was all pretty vile really and I'm starving with no more food in the house until tomorrow Blush

I need to make a lighter batter next time plus more oil and a bigger wok.

DH doesn't eat fish so i was cooking two meals at the same time and had a bit of a sweaty freak out that the tempura was taking to long.

I'd be shit on Masterchef.

What did you have for dinner Sardine?

OP posts:
SardineQueen · 16/06/2012 22:52

That is a hard thing you tried to cook tonight.

But you have to try to learn for definite!

have you no eggs, soup or beans? Cheese on toast? Nothing?

I would love to say we had something really snazzy! But we didn't. We did the ultimate in decadent living. Bacon egg and toast Smile It was yum.

What do you usually do with your smoked haddock?

SardineQueen · 16/06/2012 22:57

I mean: You have to try (things), to learn

Didn't sound quite right in previous post!

PissyDust · 16/06/2012 23:18

Omg bacon & egg! My fav after work dinner at the minute is ready cooked chicken, coleslaw baguette and a massive bag of crisps Grin

We have beans n stuff that requires the removal of my arse from the sofa to make, I mean we have nothing nice like crisps, biscuits or chocolate.

I have Wine I can drink through the belly rumbles!

I'm going to try again next week!
