I was going to say frosties. Think I'll keep quiet Blush

Ishoes · 04/06/2012 20:51

Fry up!
sausage
bacon
fried eggs
black pudding-my favourite
tatty scone
beans
mushrooms
fried bread

I am drooling now!

Who would put tinned tomatoes with a cooked breakfast? Why would you do that? The texture is all wrong surely. I hate tomatoes, but I'd imagine a fresh roasted or grilled tomato would be much nicer.

I remember being presented with a tinned tomato as a child when on holiday in England. We were all convinced it was some sort of joke they played on unsuspecting Scottish visitors.Apparently not.Grin

I love kedgeree, but for me the best has to be a slice of my mum's pizza, cold. It's basically a big, crunchy-crusted focaccia with tangy tomato and not very much cheese (so it's never greasy), plenty of courgette and onion and peppers, and masses of basil and olives on top. Mmm. Delicious.

A herb omlette with cheese and tomato is good too.

I'm really hungry now and have just eaten roast chicken, roast potatoes and all the trimmings made by DH - he's going to assume he didn't make enough. Grin

Kippers, kippers and more kippers, or at a push eggy bread made with brioche and pancetta.

We have a B&B so tend to go off cooked breakfasts.

HokeyCokeyJubileeMyArse · 04/06/2012 20:56

I was about to say no eggs benedict is the best breakfast, you are quite right op.

QuintessentialShadows · 04/06/2012 20:56

Yup.

Fresh chunks of pineapple, mango, raspberries and blueberries, covered in lashings of Natural Greek Yogurt (full fat), with a sprinkling of walnuts on top!

Divine!

MoonlightandRoses · 04/06/2012 20:56

Large bowl of porridge, made with milk, a tangy apple grated over it, followed by a swirl of cream and half a teaspoon of honey, topped by a sprinkling of cinnamon.

Or a full fry, but no beans - tinned baked beans are an abomination. Grin

chipmunksex · 04/06/2012 21:00

lightly toasted onion bagel with real butter.

lightly toasted hot cross bun and real butter.

2 fat outdoor bred pork sausages, on a slice of white bread each, one with ketchup, one with HP.

soft boiled egg, one round of toast, one of bread and butter.

-I love breakfast best of all.

MrTumblesSpottyBum · 04/06/2012 21:00

My favourite is proper American pancakes with whipped butter, maple syrup and streaky bacon. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Grin. With french toast or eggs benedict (with lots of hollandaise) coming in second.

WithACherryOnTop · 04/06/2012 21:01

Actually the whole concept of breakfast is wrong. It's just not natural to eat in the morning.I can't look at food then, unless on holiday. It should be moved to around 2pm.
Kedgeree works for me,or egg fried rice,or stirfry.Perhaps a morning roll with black pudding and potato scone. I tend to prefer savoury 'breakfasts',with the exception of yogurt and multiseed wholemeal bread with marmalade or strawberry and black pepper jam.

MrTumblesSpottyBum · 04/06/2012 21:02

Or a really ripe papaya with lots of lime. Oh yes, I love breakfast!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 04/06/2012 21:02

huevos rancheros here.. hangover breakfast food of the gods.

Charl0tteBronteSaurus · 04/06/2012 21:03

i am a Breakfast Person
there's no way i could pick one
Top 5 would be:
Comptoir Gascon croissant and jam
Full english (bacon, scrambled egg, sausage, mushrooms, hash browns, toast. NO BEANS.)
Kedgeree
Bacon Roll and strong coffee
American Pancake and maple syrup

tethersend · 04/06/2012 21:04

Croque madame

Bacon and brie bagel

Fried egg, mushrooms, beans and fried slice

Croissants and jam

The best by far is Bauernfrühstück with sliced gherkin.

Charl0tteBronteSaurus · 04/06/2012 21:04

oh, I forgot masala dosas......it'll have to be a top 6.

fivegomadindorset · 04/06/2012 21:04

So I am guessing kippers is a minority like then.

NickettyNacketty · 04/06/2012 21:07

Crusty eggy bread, bacon and maple syrup.
Fried potato scone with bacon and fried egg.
Warm croissants with jam and milky coffee.
Bacon croissants.

Eggs Benedict is icky.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 04/06/2012 21:10

..or cold curry

NickettyNacketty · 04/06/2012 21:16

Ooooh left over trifle the next day.

HaleAndPacemaker · 04/06/2012 21:19

Eggs benedict but made with smoked salmon rather than bacon/ham (te name seems to vary by restaurant)

surroundedbyblondes · 04/06/2012 21:25

DH is allergic to eggs, and Eggs Benedict seems too much faff to make for myself, but I dream of the indulgence of it.

Also like bagels w smoked salmon (& ideally scrambled eggs if I'm alone)
American pancakes & bacon with syrup

French toast I haven't had in AGES but this has prompted me to put it on next weekend's menu.

Oh, and i sympathise with whoever it was living in Brussels that couldn't get a decent eggs benedict. You used to be able to get it at that American place next to the Blue Tower (can't remember the name, but I think it closed down a long time ago anyway, possibly in some kind of dodgy circumstances). But a long, quiet, undisturbed breakfast at Pain Quotidien is a wonderful thing, albeit devoid of bacon.

tigerbear · 04/06/2012 21:27

Ooh yes, eggy bread with crispy bacon and maple syrup or tomato sauce!
And hash browns, lots of them - mmmmmmm!

LRDtheFeministDragon · 04/06/2012 21:27

Ooh, I love that hale. I've seen it with 'royale' but nothing else? I like with spinach too, that is delicious and, naturally, exceedingly healthy because it has green stuff in, right?

Cold curry is delicious but only home-made ... curry house curry is revolting in the morning.

Fresh bread just out of the oven, with salty butter, takes some beating too.
