I made her recipe for her MIL's Madira Cake yesterday for Valentinesthe recipe called for 60 minutes, when I checked at 60 it was still needing to be baked in the center. I let it go for another 10 minutes until skewer came out clean. I served it up and it was quite drygood taste but quite dry. This is the first time I have used her book. Is it just me?

She's notorious for unreliable recipes, isn't she? I've never made that though, sunny - but her sweetcorn pudding is vile.

I make the madeira cake all the time and it does need the extra 10 mins.. mine never seems dry though possibilu cos we eat it within minutes of it coming out of oven! Try it with the lemon syrup as well that is lovely... but all her cake timing are just WRONG!
