Carrot and lentil soup disaster

I'm sure its not meant to resemble a baby's nappy. Think I've put too many lentils in it (400g to 1Kg of carrots 1.5 litres of stock and 250ml milk.

Any ideas on how to rescue it before the mob tumble through the door, smell it and head straight up to the corner shop for something more appetising? I'm boiling some more carrots to make it look a bit orangy - is it worth adding a tin of tomatoes or is it doomed?

Can you liquidise it? Although that might make it look more like a baby's nappy!

Done that - and you're right!

Try the tin of tomatoes then. Serve with toast cut into square croutons, so they can't see the actual soup.

A lb of lentils is far too many in that much liquid. 100g would have been plenty. You've essentially made Carrot Dahl :) Add lots more water or stock and liquidise.

hmm why did you put milk in it?! I think that is more of the problem.

Im not convinced it is salvageable tbh!

nothing wrong with carrot dhal - maybe you should try adding some curry powder! Grin

the recipe on bbc good food said to use milk. I just increased the quantities but obviously got the maths wrong.

Have added the toms, cumin and chilli powder - yes it does look like dhal - lets hope the dc are feeling brave.
