Can I substitute soured cream with any other cream?

Just as the title says really.

I have a receipe that asks for soured cream but to get it I will need to go to one of the bigger supermarmarkets and I dont really have time.

So could I use double or single cream which I can get from the wee store round the corner?

Yes. And some lemon juice.

Thanks Chubfuddler, I have lemon juice, would it matter which cream?

What's the recipe?

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 03/05/2012 16:33

Double cream. And the already-mentioned lemon juice.

It sounds lovely, except the mushrooms, yuck!

I want to make it tomorrow.

Creme fraiche is the nearest subsitute.

I agree with Black, and would go for Creme Fraiche in that recipe, though double cream would work I'd think.
For a completely made from scratch, but easy meal, try this
My DD is ten, and hated mushrooms until she ate this.
It's gorgeous.
