I have seen pictures on t'internet of football cupcakes. They have green grass (I can work out how to do this) and a perfectly formed half football (correctly black and white on top). People have made this out of fondant icing. But how?? How on earth do you do it so neatly?

I would like to wow my DS (and his friends, because he's not very cool). Help!

btw it's like this:

but with grass underneath.

Asda have the football toppers, or ebay have a lot of cake decorating sellers that make them out of fondant. :-)

You need to buy a silicon mould, got mine from eBay couple of pounds. Then use fondant icing, add hardening ingredient. Once hardened off, you need very fine paint brush with black food paste, and some alcohol to mix to make it more paintable... Then have a bash! I made them for first time last month, turned out great.

thanks both - I'd like to do them myself so will follow nolongeramug's advice. Thank you!

the grass is made with butter icing dyed green, you need to buy a special nossle for the piping bag, it will have lots of holes in the bottom!

The grass looks like it would work if you put the fondant icing through a garlic press.
