How to scale down a cake recipe to do a test for a wedding?

It's this one and my tin is 20cm. I'm being blonde I know! I also want to cover in fondant....

The area of the 20 cm tin is just under half of the area of the 30 cm tin, so I would just half the recipe.

Bumping this to ask how long you would bake it for - one hour so far and the middle has sunk disasterously already :( GUTTED, not the cheapest cake to make :(

How did it turn out? It mentions not opening it before 2 hours in case it sinks, so it sounds like it's a recipe that's prone to it. Hopefully it will still taste good, and you can put it down to an expensive necessary test run.

rubbish! Had no idea how long to bake for so opened to check after an hour - and it sank before my eyes but tasted DIVINE!!!!!! I will have another go :)
