Urgent! No veg oil for cake can I substitute with butter? Quick response needed!

Making a birthday cake and need 125ml of veg oil. Don't have any, can I substitute with same amount of butter? All dry ingredients in bowl ready to mix...ahhh! Help anyone?

If you melt it, that should work

Cakes were made with butter long before they were made with vegetable oil. That said the method of making it is probably different.

Make sure it's not too hot when you add it. It might 'cook' the eggs, so you'd end up with scrambled egg bits in your cake.Confused

Tbh I don't think it's necessary to melt the butter - just soften it.
