when dd1 was little i had a recipe from the back of a semolina packet from sainsburys

from what i remember had make some thick semolina then add almond extract and sultanas

i have put semolina in a number of search engines as sainsburys cant help and havent been able to find it anywhereSad

i am hoping there is a Mnetter out there who has it squirreled away

Could it be something like this or that ?

Semolina (coarse) and nuts always spell Greek Halva to me, sweet and sticky and grainy and sirupy - the taste of my grandmothers halva was legendary!

I know what you mean, you'd think they'd have some kind of archive of recipes! I had a look (like you must have already) on their website and the almond cake might be close? I know I'm not being too helpful as I'm only repeating what you know but if you remember the cake being sponge like, I would go for that. If it was drenched in syrup, it might have been ravani, included in the recipes above.

It's so frustrating to crave a taste from the past and not quite find it... My grandma made a fantastic apple pie and the world's tastiest Mont Blanc and both my mum and I have tried to replicate them for years!
