I made throats pork today with a chili apple sauce from the Good Food website. It's not really a vegetable but it was easy peasy, yummy and definitely not dullGrin

savoycabbage · 14/04/2012 10:06

Roast pork...not throat pork!

mrsnesbit · 14/04/2012 10:08

Ok I am sold on cauliflower cheese.

I like the chilli apple sauce idea, I made some crab apple and chilli jelly last year which is delicious.

Root veg (any doesn't matter)

Roast with whole cloves of garlic

Then turn up oven full pelt

Drizzle over honey or brown sugar or even syrup if you're desperate and have run out of everything else and it's Sunday and the posh rellies are on their way Blush

Then bung back in oven for 10 or 15 mins til sugary stuff caramelizes.

Yum.

fivegomadindorset · 14/04/2012 10:13

I usually cut up some apples and roast them with the pork, then serve with (bought Blush) coleslaw.

hathorinareddress69 · 14/04/2012 10:14

If you have a slow cooker, a jar of apple sauce lobbed in with the pork makes it very succulent.

hathorinareddress69 · 14/04/2012 10:15

Oh and those honey roast veg are lovely with fried rice or even pasta and some goats cheese.

mrsnesbit · 14/04/2012 10:17

I would like loads of salad with that.
Red cabbage goes well with pork too.

Or just ordinary cabbage.

fivegomadindorset · 14/04/2012 10:26

Now tomorrow we are BBQing a side of salmon with steamed veg but what sort of potatoes would you lot do?

OP posts:
iklboo · 14/04/2012 10:29

Baby new potatoes parboiled and then tossed in herb and garlic butter and stuck on the bbq

savoycabbage · 14/04/2012 10:31

I would do new potatoes, cold in home made mayonnaise with dill.

I'm doing slow roast pork tomorrow and am doing dauphinoise potatoes with red cabbage and french beans.

With the BBQ I would second the parboiled new potatoes chucked on the bbq.

Yummy.
