i'm making sweet potato, butternut squash & chilli soup & am looking for a loaf to make to go with it or rolls. last time i made a simple white loaf as it was as heavy as a brick! any suggestions would be fab thanx

it's not really about the recipe, it's about the technique - kneading properly and not too much, letting it rise properly, making sure the yeast isn't out of date.
My basic bread recipe is 500g strong white flour, 1 tsp yeast, 1 tsp salt, 350g water (or less).

Is this for tomorrow? If so, I would knead it tonight then leave it to rise overnight in the fridge, then tomorrow knock back, prove for an hour and bake 220 degrees C.

Rolls are nice to go with soup.

yes, you can use the same dough for bread or rolls. Smile
