A better word for 'nibbles'

'Nibbles' always comes up on the 'words that make your teeth itch' threads.

I use the word 'nibbles'. I do see though that it is a bit of a tooth itcher.

What should I be calling the small delicious things to eat while drinking wine and chatting to friends, often before a meal?

Ooh Daisy! We have horses doovers too!

Beacuse I am mad, Chutney, I cannot read the word 'digit' without thinking of the word 'up'. Not pleasant.

Schnacks, said in a cod-German/Swiss accent.

I cant say nibbles without thinking nipples. So we never have nibbles!

My sister once walked into someone's house and remarked "Nice nibbles, Linda!".

There was a sort of strained silence after her comment.

We call it 'crisps n dips n shit' but we don't get out much

nib-nabs.
