Anyone have a foolproof method for making 'toad in the hole' they'd share with me please?

I've never attempted it since a disaster when dp and myself first got together but loved it when I was younger & think dd1 would find the sausages inside the yorkshire pud novel (bangers & mash with a yorks ud is her fave meal ever!)

I make the pudding batter and then leave it to stand....for a couple of hours if poss. I do 4 heaped tablespoons of plain flour, 2 eggs & milk & water to get the desired consistency. Put the oven to heat 200c, fry sausages, put oil in the baking tray heat until almost smoking, add sausages, pour batter over sausages, bung in the oven.
