Will it be tasteless being cooked for so long? I have a bouquet garni I could chuck in there but no root veg.

I only bought it because it was marked down to 99p!

Gammon is full of salt which tends to make it quite tasty, even after long cooking. However, for the same reason, I would chuck the cooking water once it has finished.

I did a slow cooked gammon last week. Once the meat had cooked I skimmed off the fat and kept about 1/3 of the cooking water, then added leeks, potatoes, carrots, wholegrain mustard, I flaked the meat and boiled it all up in a pan until veg cooked, it was vair nice!

I see, it should be ok then.

I'm going to cut it up and put it in lentil soup.

if you find another one at such a great price soak in cold water changing a couple of time over 24 hours and that removes most of the saltiness Grin

The local Morrisons really came up trumps today! fruit bowl full of avocados, mangos, kiwi, bananas and melon for under £3.

The fruit isnt even ripe.
