Quickie question ...red lentils in a curry when to add and for how long

Im making a chicken curry with lloyd grossman :) and want to add red lentils.

when should I add them as not sure how long they need to cook

if they're dried, boil the kettle, put the amount in a bowl, pour on boiling water and leave them there for about half an hour.
then add to the curry sauce.
it doesn't matter when, as long as they're all fluffy

I'd also cook them first - no more than 15 mins.

They will make the curry scummy if you add them, but again only take 15 mins.
