POLL for ENGLISH mners only - do you enjoy minced beef hotpot or minced beef stew?

I've never cooked it before but was considering trying it. DP's not sure and thinks it might be one of those meals you would have had to have been brought up on to appreciate it. It's a traditional scottish/irish meal IIRC? I think it might be one of those things that doesn't look too appetizing but actually tastes really yummy.

With just mince do you have chunkier vegetables than cottage pie filling though? Cos when I was calling it mince beef stew I was thinking of doing it with chunky vegetables like you'd have in a stew as opposed to finely chopped, diced or grated vegetables you'd have in a cottage or shepherds pie.

It'd be mince either way. Maybe you could call one 'lazy mince' and the other 'mince' to indicate the amount of chopping involved if you need to differentiate them.

It depends how likely your DC are to poke vegetables with a disgusted look on their faces, lol

I wouldn't really like it and would use Braising Steak instead.

I see that in the US a company making a budget version of minced beef has had to stop production as consumers have turned against it.

It reminds me of awful school dinners and guide camp (and the dreadful smell I the toilets afterwards).

I certainly do not have lazy mince, or mince at all. I'll have cottage pie instead.
