Oops i cooked the ham in plastic!!

First time cooking ham, took plastic off it this morning, rinsed it and cooked it for 9 hours in the slow cooker.
When i took it out a whole piece of plastic came away from it (round the outside, not covering the meat part, just round the skin)
ham was perfectly cooked and bloody delicious.
But dh thinks we're all gonna get plastic poisonng now

do you think we'll survive

I boil mine in the 'inner plastic' circular bit. Always been fine.

Done it myself. Don't worry, i don't think its that bad. I suspect quite a few people may also have done it!! I think its supposed to hold it alltogether. I NOW remember to cut it off though. Don't worry I'm sure your dh won't keel over with poisoning. Well, my dh didn't anyway!!

I believe it is so common that they actually make it out of heat-proof plastic.

If you have managed to survive to today MossChops, you can tell DH you were following cooking instructions.

I checked mine today and it said 'remove packaging and cook.......'

And then 'Before carving remove casing'

No poisoning

Not only have I done it but I glazed the bloody plastic in a jar of honey before cooking it and it was only when I went to cut it that I realised the plastic was there - still here to tell the tale and always take the sodding plastic off these days.
