Any recipe suggestions please? I have a slow cooker so was hoping to use that to concoct something tasty!

Bloody hell. I have to ask how you have found yourself in this situation!

tabulahrasa · 29/02/2012 08:32

You have a slow cooker that will fit 150 pork chops in it?

LackaDAISYcal · 29/02/2012 08:33

150? Sounds like some fuck off giant slow cooker you have there :o

Pork in cider with apples
Pork Stroganoff

And once it's cooked it can be frozen again

MrsSnaplegs · 29/02/2012 08:35

My goodness you'll be cooking them up for daysWink
Cut some of the meat up and make a pork casserole
Cut some of the meat up and make a pork and ginger stir fry
Make a stroganoff
All of which once cooked can be frozen in portions

OTheHugeManatee · 29/02/2012 08:38

How, OP? How??

Did they fall off the back of a lorry? Grin

BeckyBrandonNeeBloomwood · 29/02/2012 08:41

Also very curious how you have found yourself with 150 pork chops! I asked the same question a few weeks ago when I thought I had a lot of pork chops in 3 packs! I got loads of great recipe ideas ( although not sure many were for slow cooker) if you can find my other threads!

TisPityShesAWhore · 29/02/2012 08:47

how? why? masive on-line shopping fuckup?

can you chop them into bits, brown them, then refreeze them. then as and when you want for the next 20 years you can just lob the bits into whatever casserole you fancy.

nextphase · 29/02/2012 09:01

If you run out of freezer space for re-cooked pork (tho I guess they came out of your freezer?) ring the local charity who provides food for the homeless, and explain.
They have often collected excess turkeys off my mother when Dad brings 3 home the week before Christmas.

Spanish pork casserole is nice. It's a Moro recipe, I think. Will hunt it out for you.

saltcod · 29/02/2012 09:51

Thanks. I don't think the slow cooker will fit all 150 pork chops in, but it will take a fair few! School had a freezer failure so they were starting to defrost, hence why I can't re-freeze. H&S rules means they can't be used for the kids as they don't know how long the freezer was off for (although most were still pretty frozen). Lol at the online shop f**k up :)

You can refreeze meat, can't you? It just makes it a bit tougher.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 29/02/2012 09:57

Cook them, then they can be frozen again with no probs.

Sweet and sour pork is nice

saltcod · 29/02/2012 10:01

Was going to try this recipe here for a few of them. Quite like the idea above about browning them in chunks & freezing for later use.

I was going to say sweet and sour. Here's the recipe:

Fry up the pork (chopped) with onions and garlic.
Make sauce by filling half a cup with ketchup, then fill up rest of cup with soy sauce and vinegar.
Cook pork in this sauce for a bit, add sweetcorn/ carrots if you like.
Add a tin or 2 of pineapple chunks (or lychees give it a great flavour too).
YUM.

MerryMarigold · 29/02/2012 10:02

PS. (You don't need a slow cooker for that one, it takes 30mins max)

randommoment · 29/02/2012 10:04

Dustyhouse NOOOO!!! Don't even think about refreezing anything unless it was raw when defrosted and you have since cooked it and turned it into something new. Cooking kills the bacteria that is present in all food, frozen or fresh. Once defrosted - even partially defrosted - the bacteria start to multiply. If you refreeze, the meat will have a high level of bacteria in and in the time it takes to defrost a second time, the bacteria will multiply to dangerous levels. Even if you do it fast in the microwave.

saltcod · 29/02/2012 10:10

Ooh, thank you, that sweet & sour recipe looks good (and nice & easy!). That's a few more used up Grin

MerryMarigold · 29/02/2012 12:09

oh and saltcod, that sauce is for about 6 pork chops, so you may need vast quantities of ketchup!

MsWeatherwax · 29/02/2012 12:28

Marinade about 2 pork chops per person, whole in: balsamic vinegar, bit of olive oil, chopped fresh rosemary, spoonful of clear honey, salt and pepper, overnight if poss.

Fry onion, peppers, chopped up apples with the skin on.

Take chops out of marinade and seal on each side in frying pan.

Add fried veg, pork chops to slow cooker. Put remains of marinade into one of the left over pans, bring to boil with some port or red wine if you have it. Pour over pork chops, add some water if needed.

Cook until pork tender. This is good with baked potatoes or rice.

Use the Kenneth Lo recipe for spare ribs - works just as well for chops.
