Please help- how to cook sausages in oven

My grill has broken and DD has a friend coming over for tea. They have been promised sausages. I have got the long thinner type and really don't want to fry them.

Can anyone please tell me what temp to cook them for and how long. I don't want to just shove them in and use my initiative in case I get it wrong and poision her little friend!!

180 degrees for about half an hour Smile

I always do sausages in the oven. If they are thin, chipolata-type ones you'll probably only need 15-20 mins rather than half an hour.

As others have said - for chipolatas, 20min at 180 degrees will do the trick. Turn them once or twice. Don't prick them, but do put them in a baking tray (rather than on a flat sheet) as they'll leak fat while cooking.

baking tray, with baking paper if you've got any - stops them sticking to the tray, & also collects the fat if you turn the edges up

I don't bother turning them, they get nice & brown on the top & as long as they're cooked it doesn't matter if they're a bit pale underneath

I put them on a wire rack on a baking try as they cook evenly then and do them at gas mark 5 or 180.

I always stick them on the grill pan in the oven- the fat drains off making them as healthy as grilled. Usually cook them for about 25mins but a bit less for the skinny ones- usually turn them once.
