I have 4 friends coming over for supper next week. Am doing a Moroccan lamb thingie with cows-cous and a friend is bringing a cheesecake. Would you bother with starters? Otherwise give me some ideas for interesting nibbles please...

Why not stick with the theme and do humous dip with veg sticks, oils, flat bread type stuff??

I never bother with starters, wine, snacky crisps etc if arriving a while before eating but straight to mains

I wouldn't bother with a starter but I'd shove some hoummus, olives, maybe a feta dip, pitta breads on the table with the tagine. They can then pick at them before the tagine, eat alongside the tagine and pick at afterwards too!

agree starter too formal. I usually just have a few dishes with olives, some nice little bits of saucisson, some pistachio nuts, some posh crisps to have with drinks.

Or plates of crostini topped with tapenade, sun dried tomato paste, that aubergine stuff which I just forgot the name of because I am getting so old...
