Excessive pooing in 7 month old - we're talking a lot of sh**

Hi all,
My LO has always been a regular pooer - when he was a newborn it was 5-7 times a day and now at 7 months its pretty much the same. He's on solids and loving it, and I think eats quite a lot for a 7 month old. He's also still breast fed and feeds about 5-6 times in 24 hour period.

I'm not complaining about the nappy changes, although obviously I don't relish changing dirty nappies, its more the fact that it interupts his napping as he's always waking up after 45 minutes and pooing! Today (it's 1pm) and he's done 4 poos! I'll be expecting another couple before bed time.

Most of them are quite solid FYI!

Is this normal?

normal is all relative, ie what's normal for one person may not be normal for another. ds used to poo a lot as a baby, usually after every feed, but he quite quickly reduced it to just once a day. if you are worried though, mention it to the health visitor or gp.

Probably. My DS1 used to poo for Britian. Up to the age of about 3 he was doing it several times a day. He grew out of it.

If it is normal poo then I wouldn't worry. He is how he is and may well slow down his rate.

When you say they are quite solid though, do you mean that they are quite hard? Is he getting enough fluids?

What about if you put him down for a nap just after a poo to try and break the waking up to poo thing?
