I was going to make Nigellas sticky cocktail sausages but my sesame oil is out of date

..Best before 2008 in fact. Now if it was just for me I'd use it but it's for party food and I don't wish to poison all DSs friends. (Well maybe one or two Grin).

What else could I use? It's an hour round trip to the supermarket and I'd like to improvise.

taste it
if it tastes ok, its ok
or just use olive oil, it will be fine, possibly nicer

Oil goes rancid ? do not use it. Use some other kind of oil that is still within its date.

FannyPriceless · 06/01/2012 15:55

If it's rancid, you will know. Use your senses. Smell it and taste it. (2008 is pretty old though.)

A more neutral oil will be perfectly fine in such a recipe. No need to spend an hour on the road.Smile

I am not at all averse to ignoring best before dates but 3+ years seems a bit too out of date.
It smells of sesame. I have olive oil but the sesame flavour in the recipe is very strong.
