Loads of food in fridge. Sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, pigs in blankets, chicken sandwich filler etc.
Will it all be ok? I am worried about using it now.

Is it cold?

hollyonthesleigh · 24/12/2011 08:22

How warm is your kitchen? If kitchen has been at tropical heat all night,I might be concerned,if not dont worry.I always wonder about the fridges in the supermarkets, they dont have doors on them and the food from them is never that cold either.

GypsyMoth · 24/12/2011 08:22

Not sure I would chance it! Is the kitchen heated?

Tortoise · 24/12/2011 08:23

Food doesn't feel cold but had no heating on last night so kitchen was quite chilly.

There has been another thread on this issue yesterday.

So long as the door was open a very small amount and the kitchen was cool all night it should have stayed below 5 degrees and will be fine.

Does your fridge have a temperature guage on?

StealthPolarBear · 24/12/2011 08:24

what's the temp of the fridge?

I always think that about supermarket fridges and open freezers. \The open freezers must be really inefficient too!

StealthPolarBear · 24/12/2011 08:25

no heating on, i think it will be fine! does milk smell ok? any shellfish in fridge?

Tortoise · 24/12/2011 08:26

No idea on temp of fridge Blush.
Wasn't wide open. Something was in the way of it closing fully.
Is the already cooked things like sausage rolls less of a risk than fresh meat?

If the fridge was quite full, the items were in packets straight from the shop and the door was open only a tiny bit then the food will have stayed safe as the fridge compressor would have kicked in and run all night.

MoreBeta · 24/12/2011 08:32

Sausage rolls and cooked meats are higher risk than uncooked meats.

Well, we had Bacon sandwiches for lunch and it smelt and tasted fine. Will just have to take a chance on the rest.
