Am I right in thinking veggie sausages are horrible? And what easy thing can i do for veggies if everyone else is having hot dogs?

Veggie fajitas? Thats my veggie dish if one comes for dinner!

I'm a veggie and I like veggie sausages! Quorn ones though, not supermarket cheapies. It all depends on what the rest of the meal is really. I'll never forget going to a barbecue fundraiser for the preschool- I asked what the veggie option was, they said 'lasagne' Grin Shock I was very disappointed! (Though I guess you're not having a barbecue for christmas...)

The frozen veggie hotdogs from Sainsburys are v easy - pop them in the microwave.

I like Glamorgan sausages rather than pretend meat ones (not veggie but DH is)

Bohica · 23/12/2011 00:12

Yum at veggie fajitas and so easy to do.

hotdogs are vile though.

And I'm a carnivore.

trulyscrumptious43 · 23/12/2011 00:16

Frozen veggie hotdog sausages from Tesco are great - cheaper too and there is no discernible difference. We are a veggie family and DS is always on at me to buy these and make hotdogs.

Linda Mc vegetarian sausage are nice ,and you can get mini ones in a bag.

Vegetarian bacon looks like the insole from a slipper, repears Blush and gives my DD horrible wind.

LordOfTheFlies · 23/12/2011 00:51

repeats not repears. Pah!

BandOMothers · 23/12/2011 00:56

Oh what about falafels? (sp) I love them and I'm not even a veggie!

yellowflowers · 23/12/2011 10:46

Falafel an exellent idea

The Sainsbo's veggie hotdogs (freezer section) are nice. That would be my choice, with lots fo fried onions.

Bought falafel are horrible and it's a faff to make your own.

How about roasting some big flat mushrooms with cheese, garlic and stuffing them into soft rolls with salad and chutney?

colditz · 23/12/2011 12:09

Cor yeah do Glamorgan Sausages.

BandOMothers · 23/12/2011 14:04

I want a roll with roasted mushroom in it NOW! I have never heard of that Remus and am going to do them for DH when he gets out of hospital tomorrow...sounds gorgeous!

passthestuffing · 23/12/2011 14:06

Another vote for Linda mccartney sausages...esp the new Mediterranean ones.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2011 14:06

I think I may have pinched it from Nigel Slater or Rose Elliot or somebody.

Hope that a) your dh is okay and b) you enjoy the mushrooms!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2011 14:07

Linda McCartney sausages are vile. Sainsbo's cumberland are nice.

BandOMothers · 23/12/2011 18:32

Thanks Remus he's fine! He broke his hip on Sunday night but he's been cobbled together and is good...luckily he's very fit!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2011 19:00

Ouch - glad they are letting him out in time for Christmas. I take it that he won't be cooking the Christmas dinner then?!
