Just bought my leg of lamb from butcher - he says it should be fine in fridge until Sunday?

But everything I read on the internet says eat within 2 days! If I have wasted £25 I will be so pissed off! No room in the freezer and to be honest I didn't really want to freeze such a good cut.

Is he right or wrong?

He will be right.

Sometimes if I go into the butchers on a Sat to order a full belly of pork to be picked up the following sat, (he gets the pigs in on a Monday) he vac packs it for me and puts it in one of his fridges.

Phew! Thanks :) I think maybe bigger joints are ok and I am looking at smaller cuts in my search.

Do you know Sunday is Christmas Day?

It will be fine. My Granddad was a butcher, he got his meat in and kept it in his fridge for much longer than two days, the two days advise is because you wouldn't necessarily know how long it's been in cold storage with the butcher but if he says it'll be OK until Sunday, it'll be fine.

I do know that. I am cooking this year and turkey is dull. Screw tradition!

I agree - we are having rib of beef.
