Soup blender - is this the right place?

Been making winter vegetable and parsnip soups this week. Four ort five-litre batches. Have been using one of those hand-held whizzers like a beer bottle with a stalk on it, and whirling blades on the end of the stalk.

It tends to splash out gobbets of soup, and you have to lift it above the bottom of the pan so the lumps of veg can get sucked into the blades.

Have got a goblet blender but it only holds about a litre so would take about 5 batches, and I can't be bothered getting the machine out anyway.

Is there a better way?

Not that I know of. I know exactly what you mean. I can't be arsed to fish out the big blender let alone wash it up and that leaves slinging soup up the walls with the hand held one. I'd love to know if anyone has any oother suggestions.
