serenity · 09/01/2006 10:39

bacon, tomatoes, garlic, red wine, stock cubes, onions.....

Marina · 09/01/2006 10:39

chopped onions, garlic, tinned tomatoes or passata (sieved tomato, thicker than juice, no lumpy bits or seeds).
If we have them we add some diced smoked bacon, very finely chopped carrot and celery, and chicken livers.
Lots of people include sliced mushrooms as well.
Some oregano and plenty of black pepper too.
You can manage with a jar of sauce, mince and onions if nec.

thats spag bol actually, Lasagne I tend to do quite dry, so mince, little bit of stock, garlic, onions, as the cheese/bechamel sauce makes it quite sloppy anyway.

Do you not find the pasta sheets hoover up a lot of liquid from the sauce though serenity?

bakedpotato · 09/01/2006 10:42

tin of anchovies

Not really, but I tend to use fresh pasta sheets when I do it so maybe thats why? It always goes horribly wrong when I use the dried stuff, and I end up with little bits of broken pasta all over the floor!

serenity · 09/01/2006 10:48

and I do far too much cheese sauce as well. There's a really nice greek macaroni dish that has a tiny amount of meat and ten tons of creme on top and I tend try and cook lasagne in the same proportions!

Tinker · 09/01/2006 10:50

A little spoonful of cranberry or redcurrant sauce is nice as well.

eidsvold · 09/01/2006 23:48

tinned tomatoes, garlic, basil, oregano, tomato paste, onions, mushrooms.

Bozza · 10/01/2006 21:50

I do onion, peppers, garlic, mushrooms, tinned tomatoes, tomato puree, herbs, pepper and sometimes a little marigold, wine if I have some open.
